Ramnath Kovind seeks support of NDA for presidential elections

Ranchi, Jul 12: NDA’s presidential candidate Ramnath Kovind  interacted with the MPs and MLAs of the NDA in Jharkhand and sought their support during the polls.

 

The meeting which was held at the residence of Chief Minister Raghubar Das was attended by the MPs and MLAs of the BJP. Apart from that the AJSU party headed by its supremo Sudesh Mahto and other MLAs and independent MLAs Geeta Koda and Bhanu Pratap Shahi were also present on the occasion.

 

Later briefing the press Union Fertilisers Minister Ananth Kumar said that since Mr Kovind has filed his nominations for the post of the President support for him has been increasing across the country. He said that during his visit to the state he urged the elected representatives for their support.

Mr Kumar said that during his interaction with the MPs and MLAs Mr Kovind said that the post of the president is the highest constitution post in the country and is above party politics. The work of the President is to protect and serve the country, Mr Kovind said adding that since he was appointed the Governor of Bihar he was not a member of any political party and worked rising above political lines.

 

Quoting Mr Kovind, Mr Ananth Kumar said that the presidential candidate said that for any person sitting on the highest constitutional post of the country for him all the states and the parties are equal before him. Mr Kovind also paid tributes to Bhagwan Birsa Munda and said that the people of Jharkhand were very good and simple. He also elaborated his relations with the people of the state over the last 50 years.
