Ramgarh becomes first ODF district of Jharkhand

Ranchi, Apr 3 : Ramgarh  has become first ODF district of Jharkhand.

The information was shared by the Drinking Water and Santation department and Swaksh Bharat Mission in a meeting with Chief secretary on Monday. The target was achieved with the completion of construction of 77,701 toilets in 2016/17, an official release said hereon Monday.

During the review of Swaksh Bharat Mission, Chief Secretary Mrs. Raj Bala Verma directed to prepare work plan to make all districts of the state ODF by 2019. Responsibilities of all panchayat sevaks, rojgar sevaks, BDOs and mukhiyas should be fixed . She said that work plan should be made district wise to achieve the target.

Mrs. Verma said that during 2016-17,  9 lakh toilets have been made in the state which is three times more than of 2015-2016. She said to prepare work plan to make 15 lakh toilets in 2017-18 targeting 2,000  panchayats. Complete work plan including finance, manpower and material should be made available in village wise so that the work does not stop once started.

Twelve districts have been targeted to be become ODF in 2017-18.  Moreover, photo uploading should be done fast and panchayat sevaks responsibility should be fixed as the department will give them Rs 25  for uploading each photo. She said that DMFT and MGNREGA  funds should be used in the districts having sleep back.

The department informed that 12 lakh toilets have been made in the state under Swaksha Bharat Mission and nearly 600 gram panchayats have been declared ODF. Ramgarh has become first ODF district of the state.

Drinking Water and Sanitation Principal Sec Mr. A. P. Singh and Director Swaksha Bharat Mission Mr. Rajesh Kumar Sharma including other officers were present in the review meeting.
