Ranchi: Political atmosphere has heated up in Jharkhand in wake of the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections with a constant tussle going over the candidate in the ruling coalition.
On Wednesday, State Congress President Rajesh Thakur through a press conference appealed to the senior ally JMM for sacrifice and for leaving the seat for the Congress candidate in the Rajya Sabha elections. Thakur said that sacrifice is required in alliance along with that coordination among the allies is also essential.
In the last Rajya Sabha elections, JMM supremo Shibu Soren was supported by all the parties of the alliance as everyone was unanimous in his name but this time the Congress party wants a seat in the Rajya Sabha. Regarding this, all the prominent leaders of the state have met Chief Minister Hemant Soren and apprised him of the intentions of the party.
He said that the final decision on the Rajya Sabha elections has to be taken in Delhi as the leaders of JMM and Congress will soon hold a meeting in Delhi regarding this. He said Congress National President Sonia Gandhi will lead the meeting. He said that today after eight years of BJP rule the politics of hatred and fear are dominating the whole country and people are forced to live in an environment of fear.
He said that minority sections, especially Muslims, Christians, and Sikhs have been targeted by sowing the seeds of division in the society and making the basis of this politics of appeasement, BJP seeks electoral victory. Thakur said that due to the increasing economic inequality in the country, the wealth of the 142 biggest rich has increased by 30 lakh crores in a year but the income of 84 percent of the households of the country decreased.
