Chouparan (Hazaribagh): For the last few months, every possible effort is being made by the police to curb the animal smuggling that has been going on for years through Chouparan GT Road.
In this sequence, the police arrested two smugglers along with a truck laden with animals on Friday morning. In this regard, police station in-charge Deepak Singh said that the SP received secret information that a truck from Barachatti (Bihar) was being loaded with animals and covered with tarpaulin and was being taken to Bengal. On this information, a raiding team was formed and after reaching Chordaha check post, intensive checking of vehicles coming from Barachatti (Bihar) was started.
Meanwhile, at around four in the morning, a truck covered with tarpaulin was seen coming, which when it came closer, signaled to stop, then the driver stopped the vehicle just behind the Chordaha check post, two persons got down from the vehicle and started running away, who were chased away by the armed forces.
The arrested persons have been identified as Hasim Ansari (23) father Mohd. Faiyaz Ansari S.- Chandpur Police Station- Raushanganj, District Gaya (Bihar) and Mohd. Hasim (35), father Mohd. Kamaluddin Sa. Police station was established as District- Barabanki (Uttar Pradesh). When the truck was examined, 16 cattle (bulls) were found in it, out of which one cattle (bull) was recovered in a dead state.
In this context, Chauparan Police Station Case No. 168/24 Section Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and 12(i) (ii) (iii) Jharkhand Prohibition of Bovine Animal Slaughter Act was registered. The arrested persons were sent to judicial custody.
