Police Launch Cyber Crime Awareness Drive in Rural Deoghar

Deoghar. With incidents of cyber crime gradually reaching rural pockets, the district police have stepped up efforts to spread awareness among villagers. As part of this initiative, a cyber crime prevention awareness programme was organised on Sunday at village Lucknawa under Madhupur police station limits.The programme was attended by the Sub Divisional Police Officer, Madhupur, the Madhupur Police Inspector, the Officer in Charge of Madhupur police station and the Officer in Charge of Pathrol police station. During the interaction, villagers were informed about basic cyber safety measures, common methods used in online fraud and ways to protect themselves from cyber criminals.Police officials advised people to remain cautious while receiving unknown phone calls, links or messages and strictly avoid sharing OTPs or personal banking details. Information about cyber helpline numbers was also shared so that victims can seek immediate assistance in case of fraud.

Along with cyber awareness, special emphasis was laid on substance abuse prevention. The police explained the harmful effects of addiction on health, family life and society, and appealed to villagers to stay away from intoxicants and motivate the youth to adopt a healthy lifestyle.Meanwhile, a similar awareness campaign was conducted in Tilona village under Devipur police station, a cyber-affected area. The programme was led by SDPO Sadar Ashok, who interacted directly with residents and sensitised them about cyber fraud-related risks. Villagers were urged to promptly report any suspicious activity to the police.

Police officials said public awareness plays a crucial role in preventing cyber crime. Such village-level programmes are being organised to ensure people remain alert, informed and safe in the digital age.
