PM Modi inaugurates three modern railway stations in Jharkhand under Amrit Bharat scheme

Ranchi: A significant milestone has been achieved in Jharkhand’s railway development as Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated three modernized railway stations in the state. The stations—Govindpur Road, Rajmahal, and Shankarpur—have been redeveloped under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, aimed at upgrading infrastructure and improving passenger experience.

Govindpur Road station, located on the Hatia–Rourkela rail section, has been revamped at a cost of ₹6.65 crore. The station now offers an upgraded environment for travelers, featuring a newly constructed building, spacious waiting halls, modern ticket counters, high-level platforms, platform shelters, foot overbridge, lifts, ramps, and improved lighting throughout the premises. With the addition of four railway lines, the station is expected to handle passenger traffic more efficiently.

Rajmahal station, part of the Eastern Railway’s Malda Division, has undergone a transformation with an investment of ₹7.03 crore. The station now boasts an airport-like design with advanced lighting systems, better provisions for halting long-distance trains, and improved pathways for pedestrian movement. Waiting rooms have been renovated, and special amenities like ramps and toilets for differently-abled passengers have been included. The addition of indoor video walls, aesthetically designed signage, and sculptures further enhance the station’s visual appeal.

Shankarpur station, situated on the Jasidih–Madhupur rail section, has been developed at a cost of ₹7.7 crore and now serves as the closest railway station to AIIMS Deoghar. The station has been equipped with new passenger sheds, illuminated digital timetables, upgraded platforms, an underpass, modern ticket counters, and a comfortable waiting hall. Additional improvements include a renovated foot overbridge and newly organized parking facilities, all aimed at offering a more seamless and comfortable journey for passengers.

These developments mark a major step in the Indian Railways’ modernization drive and are expected to significantly boost connectivity and convenience for passengers across Jharkhand.
