Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday laid foundation stone for a 520-bed multi-storey hostel for Scheduled Tribe students at the Tribal College Hostel Complex in Karamtoli, Ranchi. Addressing the event, he reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to strengthening the education system and ensuring all necessary support for students pursuing higher education.
In a significant announcement, the Chief Minister said that grand public libraries named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar would be established in every district of the state. These libraries will be equipped with a wide range of books and magazines to foster a stronger academic environment across Jharkhand.
Emphasizing the government’s support, Soren said, “Students should focus solely on their studies; the government will take care of all their concerns. From competitive exam preparation to courses like medical, engineering, and law, the state is providing comprehensive assistance.”
He added that under the Guruji Credit Card Yojana, economically weaker students can avail up to ₹15 lakh in collateral-free loans to pursue professional courses.
The Chief Minister assured that students living in the new hostel would not need to bring food supplies from home. The government will provide nutritious meals three times a day, along with cooks, security staff, and access to all necessary academic resources.
“Our vision for inclusive education is now taking shape. Today’s foundation ceremony marks a major step in that direction,” Soren said. He further noted that all hostels under the Welfare Department would be renovated to ensure a better living and learning environment for tribal students.
Soren highlighted the government’s ongoing initiatives to enhance infrastructure in schools and colleges and bridge gaps in the education sector. He pointed out that students of government institutions are now achieving results that rival those of private schools. “This year, many students from CM Schools of Excellence scored above 90% in board exams. This is proof of our progress,” he added.
The event was attended by Minister Chandra Linda, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, Secretaries Kripanand Jha and Arwa Rajkamal, and Tribal Welfare Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, among others.
