PIL filed in HC demanding presence of kin in last rites of Covid patients

Ranchi: A PIL has been filed at the Jharkhand High Court seeking the presence of kin at the last rites of deceased people due to Covid-19.

A Jamshedpur-based organisation through their lawyer Aprajita Bhardwaj has filed the PIL. In the petition, it has been claimed that in Jamshedpur the last rites of the people dying due to Covid is not being performed as per the traditions and customs of the people and the administration is just doing formality in name of last rites which is wrong.

In the petition, it has been mentioned that as per the guidelines which have been issued by WHO and Central Government the kin have to be handed over the bodies for performing the last rites but in Jamshedpur the people who are dying due to Covid their bodies are being handed by the TMH Hospital to Jamshedpur administration for performing the last rites.
