Ranchi: A nineteen thousand litre oxygen tank which was provided to the state with the help of FICCI leaked while it was being installed at the Covid Care Centre being set up in Itki.
Sadar SDO Utkarsh Gupta said that tank was provided to the district administration by NHM which was later sent to the Covid care centre being set up at Itki Sanatorium. He said that efforts are on to correct the leakage.
Following information by the management of the Sanatorium and block administration twice the people working on the pipeline had tried to close the leak but did not succeed. The leak from the oxygen tank had commenced from May 27 itself.
Superintendent of TB Sanatorium Dr Ranjeet Prasad said that the district administration has been informed that the gas is leaking from the knob of the tank.
A 300 bed Covid centre is being set up at the TB Sanatorium which will have a piped oxygen support on all the beds.
DDC Vishal Sagar said that efforts are on to get in touch with the experts of the company who have provided the tank. He said leak was a small one and will be soon rectified. He said that people involved in work at the manifold are trying to correct the flaws.
