Period spent by policemen in quarantine would be considered duty: DGP

Ranchi: The state police department has decided that the time spent by policemen in quarantine across the different districts would be considered as duty and would not be deducted from the leave account of police personnel.

An order in this regard has been issued by DGP MV Rao. He said that police personnel who are returning from holidays are being kept in a quarantine of 14 days and this period would be also considered as duty and not will be deducted from their leave account. The DGP has directed that orders in this regard needed to be implemented in a strict manner.

Coronavirus is rapidly spreading among the policemen men in the state and so far more than 1600 policemen have got infected by the disease. The policemen who have been infected by Covid-19 are spread across all the 24 districts of the state.

The state police headquarters had written a letter to the government demanding that the policemen be provided an insurance cover of Rs 50 lakh amid the Coronavirus crisis as they were doing their duty amid the spread of infection. However, as of now no action over the proposal has been taken.
