People will have to be made aware of road safety rules – Secretary Kripanand Jha

Ranchi: By making people aware of road safety measures, accidents on roads can be reduced and lives can be saved.

The objective of this National Road Safety Seminar 2024 is to reduce road accidents and deaths due to them.

These things were said by Transport Department Secretary Kripanand Jha in the National Road Safety Seminar 2024 organized at Hotel BNR.

Departmental Secretary Kripanand Jha said that there is a need to pay attention to the design of the road. Sometimes the design of the road becomes the cause of accidents, hence roads should be built as per DPR.

There should be proper signage on the roads.

He said that there is a need to pay attention to various aspects of reducing road accidents.

Fitness certificates should be given only after all the checks of the vehicles.

All the process must be completed before granting the driving license.

Secretary Kripanand Jha said that to reduce road accidents and minimize the loss of life and property, people need to be made aware.

People will have to be made aware of all the road safety rules like wearing a seat belt while driving, wearing a helmet, not doing triple riding and those who break the rules will have to be punished and fined.

This will have to be implemented strictly.

The role of the police department and health department becomes important in road accidents.

Trauma centres should remain active, so that the lives of the injured can be saved in the golden hour after the accident.

DG Jharkhand Police Sanjay Anand Latkar said that engineering, education and enforcement are important in road safety.

There is a need to implement all these aspects like road quality under engineering, checking the fitness of vehicles, making people aware under education and enforcement.

He said that there is a need to assess the black spots on the road and reduce them and also new black spots should be identified, then definitely the road accidents and the death rate due to it will reduce in Jharkhand.

Road Safety Cell DIG Dhananjay Singh said that all the departments related to Road Safety Cell will have to work in a better manner.

All police stations will have to keep the phone numbers of ambulance, hospitals, so that people injured in accidents can be taken to the hospital in time.
