Ranchi: The countdown for the Panchayat elections has started in Jharkhand. The budget session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly is on till March 25. After this, the dates of the Panchayat elections can be announced anytime.
With the announcement of the elections, the model code of conduct will be implemented in the state.
Due to the outbreak of Corona, Panchayati Raj Institutions have been given extensions twice in the state. According to Jharkhand’s Panchayati Raj Minister Alamgir Alam, the dates will be announced a month before the Panchayat elections. On the other hand, Election preparations have been completed. Not only this, the employees have been trained by the Election Commission.
The budget session of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly is till March 25. After this, the dates of the Panchayat elections can be announced anytime. According to the decision of the cabinet, preparations are being made to conduct Panchayat elections in Jharkhand in four phases.
Elections will be conducted by ballot instead of EVM. That’s why ballot boxes have been ordered from UP. The election of Panchayati Raj Institutions was held in the year 2015. Panchayat elections could not be held in December 2020 due to corona infection after the completion of the tenure of five years and the Panchayati institutions were disbanded.
On the other hand, by issuing a notification on January 7, 2021, executive bodies were constituted for six months by the government. Panchayat elections could not be held even during this period due to corona infection. In such a situation, it was expanded again by the state government with the approval of the governor.
