Ranchi: Advertisement was issued for appointment to a total of 100 posts of Senior Resident (SR) in RIMS. Under which interviews were organized from 12 to 17. Not even the number of doctors available in RIMS against the total number of seats for all these posts.
RIMS Director Dr. Rajeev Gupta said that only 58 applicants had appeared for the interview for all the faculties. In which only 33 doctors have been finally selected. RIMS does not get applicants every time. Experts said that now doctors want to go to big cities and find better career options. Or working on big packages in private hospitals. Due to this reason, applicants are not reaching many medical colleges against the seats.
In RIMS, SRs are being appointed to overcome the shortage of doctors as compared to patients, but 67 posts out of 100 remain vacant. Having doctors at all posts would directly benefit the patients. The need for doctors in Medicine, Ortho, Eye, Radiology, Blood Bank, Cardiac Anaesthesia, Super speciality Emergency and Central Emergency could have been met, but applicants could not be found. To increase the number of applicants, the management had also relaxed the age limit.
