Ranchi, Jan 17: The opposition parties on Tuesday in the state assembly demanded removal of Chief secretary and Director General of Police.
The opposition members led by Leader of Opposition Hemant Soren stood at gate of the assembly entrance demanding removal of the both officials. They were carrying banners “ Dismiss DGP, Remove Chief secretary from her post”.
The opposition members also shouted the slogans demanding removal of the both officials when Governor Draupdi Murmu was reading her speech on first day of the budget session.
The allegation against the chief secretary Rajbala Verma did nothing to prevent fraudulent withdrawal from Chaibasa treasury when she was Deputy Commissioner of West Singhbhum in early 1990s. The corers of fraudulent withdrawal had taken place in the Animal Husbandry department which is popularly known as fodder scam.
The CBI had served her notice in 2003 asking her reply. She did not respond to CBI despite the fact that more than 15 reminders were sent to her.
The issue surfaced when local media raised the issue. The state govt issued show cause notice early this month to her seeking her view. She has submitted her reply, but the state govt has yet to get any decision.
The allegation against DGP, DK Pandey related to encounter which took place at Bakoria of Latehar district in 2015. The allegation is that the innocent people were killed in name of encounter with Maoists. The Jharkhand High Court has also sought reply from the state govt regarding Bakoria encounter.
There are allegation that DGP tried to influence the Crime Investigation Department (CID) investigation. The CID, Additional DG, MV Rao reportedly in a letter to Home secretary had said that the DGP had asked him to slow the investigation. Rao was transferred from CID.
“ The Raghubar Das govt claims to be clean and it’s two top most officials are facing serious charges and the govt is not removing them. What is the reason to shield them. They should be removed an impartial probe should be instituted” said Hemant Soren to reporters.
The issue of both officials are likely to dominate the budget session which began Tuesday.
