Ranchi: OPD services across the state were hit on Saturday as doctors boycotted the work protesting against the death of Dr Archana who had committed suicide in Dausa of Rajasthan. In all the hospitals the doctors abstained from OPD services from 7 AM to 7 PM. The agitation of doctors had an adverse impact on the people who had turned up for treatment across various hospitals of the state.

Even at the emergency counter of RIMS, only registration of patients turning up in serious condition was being done as emergency services have been kept opened across the state. The agitation has been called by IMA, Women’s Doctor Wing, JHASA etc. Dr Archana Sharma hailing from Ranchi had committed suicide in the Dausa district of Rajasthan after a murder case was registered against her due to the death of a patient following excessive bleeding at the time of delivery.

The doctors are demanding that strict action should be taken against the culprits who are responsible for instigating the doctor to take the extreme step. They have also demanded that it should be ensured that such types of incidents do not happen in the future.

RIMS Superintendent Dr. Hirendrs Biruwa though maintained that OPD services have not been closed and in case any obstacle comes alternative arrangements have been made. Meanwhile, in Sadar Hospital the OPD services remained hit.
