One day special session of Jharkhand Assembly on Nov 11 over Sarna Code

Ranchi: A special day session of Jharkhand Assembly will be held on November 11 over the issue of Sarna religious code.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved a proposal in this regard and the same has been sent to the Raj Bhawan for approval. Post the consent of Governor Draupadi Murmu an official notification will be issued for organising the session.

During the session a proposal would be passed over the Sarna religious code by the assembly and the same would be sent to the Centre demanding that a separate column of Sarna religious code be included in the census form of 2021.

Official sources said that the final decision over the issue would be taken in the high level meeting of the UPA. The Chief Minister in Dumka had announced that a special session of the assembly would be organised over the issue before Diwali.

Tribal organisations across the state for the last many years have been demanding the Sarna religious code.
