Ranchi: On the instructions of Chief Minister Hemant Soren surprise inspection of public distribution system shops across the state was done by the officials appointed at the district level.
In this connection 63 in Lohardaga, 56 in Giridih, 66 in Pakur, 39 in Seraikela Kharsawan, 80 in Hazaribagh, 46 in Ramgarh, 40 in Deoghar, 62 in Dhanbad, 166 in Dumka, 117 in Palamu, 78 in Bokaro, 94 in Godda, 38 in Sahebganj, 36 in Latehar, 13 in Simdega, 36 in West Singhbhum, 55 in East Singhbhum, 53 in Gumla, 93 in Ranchi, 50 in Koderma, 51 in Khunti, 65 in Chatra PDS shops were surprisingly inspected .
During the inspection, mainly ration cards, distribution, grain lifting, number of card holders, stock, tally register and official documents were closely examined. Following a surprise inspection, the cancellation of license of 3 PDS in Hazaribagh and show cause notice was issued to 17 shops.
License of 13 shops of Lohardaga was canceled and show cause notice was issued to 19 PDS shopkeepers. In Saraikela-Kharsawan, 5 shops were suspended and 22 shops were issued show cause notices. Show cause notices were issued to 14 shops in Ranchi. License of one shop in Pakur canceled and show cause notice issued to nine shops. In Ramgarh, 6 shops were suspended and explanations were sought from 14 shopkeepers. Explanation was sought from 14 PDS shopkeepers in Palamu and 56 in Bokaro.
While three shops were suspended in Khunti and 6 shops were suspended in Chatra and clarification has been sought from 37 public distribution system vendors. In this way, action was taken by the government against those who indulged in irregularities in the distribution of ration from all the districts of the state.
Further, instructions were issued to most of the PDS vendors regarding food grain storage management, inventory management, timely delivery of supplies, proper display of information related to the concerned vigilance committees.
The Chief Minister was getting information regarding more than 25,000 public distribution system shops operating in the state that the ration material is not distributed among the beneficiaries according to the quantity allotted by the government.
Along with this, license number, name and address of the licensee, opening and closing time of the shop, number of different categories of card holders, quantity and rate of ration for different categories of card holders, distribution of stock will be displayed on the information board at the prominent place of the shop etc is not being displayed.
The order issued by the department is also not followed by many PDS shopkeepers. A surprise inspection was ordered to check the veracity of this and to ensure the distribution of food grains in fixed quantities to the beneficiaries.
