Nutrition awareness van flagged off by Deputy Commissioner

Ranchi: Nutrition-related information will be given to the people in the Ranchi district through the nutrition awareness spreading van as, under the Poshan Pakhwada 2022, a van was flagged off from the Collectorate premises for the participation of the people in making Jharkhand malnutrition free. Deputy Commissioner Ranchi, Chhavi Ranjan and Deputy Development Commissioner, Vishal Sagar flagged off the nutrition awareness chariot.

During this, Additional Collector Ranchi Rajesh Barwar, District Social Welfare Officer Shatrujay Kumar, District Information and Public Relations Officer Dr Prabhat Shankar and various CDPOs of the district were present. Through Awareness, van people in urban and rural areas of the Ranchi district will be given information about proper nutrition.

After flagging off the van Deputy Commissioner Ranchi, Chhavi Ranjan said that everyone’s participation is expected in this campaign to create awareness about nutritious diet and proper nutrition. To make this campaign successful, wide publicity is being done by health assistants and Anganwadi workers in all the blocks under the district he said adding that every district resident should play an active role in making Ranchi malnutrition free.

The Deputy Commissioner said that information related to proper nutrition and nutritious food would be made available to pregnant mothers and children through the Nutrition Awareness van. He said that no child should be left behind so that all the Anganwadi workers of the district should track all the mothers and children under their respective working areas.

District Social Welfare Officer Shatrunjay Kumar informed that the main objective of the Nutrition Awareness Rath is to make the district well-nourished while making it malnutrition free. Through this campaign, motivating pregnant and lactating women to feed only mother’s milk for six months after the birth of the child, giving information about complementary food along with breastfeeding after the completion of six months of the child and before preparing the food.

Further people will be given detailed information on how to wash their hands with soap before eating, after defecation, after picking up garbage, etc. He said that necessary guidelines have been given to all the Anganwadi workers regarding the successful organization of the nutrition campaign. Programmes will be organized for healthy boy-girl competition, role of women in water conservation, water management, investigation, treatment and awareness about anemia etc. Under Poshan Pakhwada, information about traditional food items for a healthy mother and the child will be given in tribal areas on 2-3 April.
