Niraj Singh cremated, Dhanbad bandh called on Thursday

Dhanbad, Mar 22: The mortal remains of Congress leaders and former
deputy mayor of Dhanbad Niraj Singh were consigned to flames at
Mohalbani Ghat of Jamadhoba here.
Hundreds of people participated in his funeral procession which
included his own loyalists and hundreds of other Congress workers.
In wake of the murder of its leader and three others the Congress
party has called for a Dhanbad Bandh. The bandh call has also been
supported by the JMM, JVM(P), RJD and the MCC. The opposition parties
have expressed their concern over the declining law and order in the
state and flayed the state government for its in-effectiveness.
Meanwhile the district unit of the Congress party organised an
emergency meeting here in which his killing was mourned.  The party
demanded for CBI probe into the incident. A two minutes silence was
also observed and tributes paid to the slain leader. District unit
head of the party and senior lawyer Brajendra Prasad Singh flayed the
state government for its inactive role. He said that Niraj was a youth
icon for the youth of the area and his murder was an irreparable loss
for the party.

 

Unidentified criminals on Tuesday evening gunned down  Singh and three other people in Dhanbad when their were returning to their home. More than 50 bullets were spread on vehicle in which Neeraj Singh was traveling. The last cremation of Neeraj Singh took place on Wednesday.

“ The murder case of Neeraj Singh should be handed over to CBI. We cannot hope for justice in the current BJP govt” said Subodh Kant Sahay, former Union Minister and senior Congress leader to reporters in Dhanbad.

Neeraj Singhs supporters have called shutdown in Dhanbad on Thursday which is supported by opposition parties.

Neeraj Singh belonged to former coal mafia family Surajdeo Singh. The family members and supporters have alleged Jharia BJP legislator and cousin Sanjiv Singh for the killing of Neeraj Singh. Police have not made any statement regarding motive of the murder.

Jharkhand govt has formed SIT to investigate the incident. The SIT team on Wednesday started investigation in the murder. No arresting has been made in the murder.
