Ranchi: Newly elected MLA in the Mandar Bypolls Shilpi Neha Tirkey on Monday took oath as a member of the Jharkhand Assembly.
In a function held at the Vidhansabha Speaker Ravindra Nath Mahto administered her the oath of office and secrecy. The MLA took her oath in English by the virtue of which she has become the youngest MLA inside the
Jharkhand Assembly.
On the occasion her father and former MLA Bandhu Tirkey, Leader of the legislature wing of Congress party Aalamgir Aalam and JPCC president Rajesh Thakur were present.
After taking oath she said that she is here to write a new history as people have huge expectations of her. When asked why she took her oath in English she said that in 2024 she will take her oath in the regional language Khudkhu.
Prior to her Congress MLA from Barkagaon Amba Prasad was the youngest MLA elected after the Assembly Elections of 2019 at the age of 31 while Shilpi Neha Tirkey is just 29.
With her becoming a member of the house the number of female legislators of the Congress MLAs has increased to five and overall strength has increased to 18. Shilip had defeated BJP’s Gangotri Kujur by a margin of more than 23,000 votes in the recently concluded bypolls on Mandar seat of Jharkhand Assembly.
