Newborn babies hearing screening to be done to test deaf and dumb symptoms, 11 crores will be spent on the scheme

Ranchi:  A deaf-and-silent test will be conducted for the newborn baby born in the state government hospital (Sadar Hospital-Medical College).

For the operation of this scheme service of an Audiologist will be obtained through outsourcing.

Rs 11 crore 1 lakh 80 thousand has been approved by the Health Department for the Newborn Hearing Screening Scheme.

Every year 8 lakh children are born in the state.

Of these, about 6 lakh children are born in government hospitals.

Most of the parts of the state have a tribal population.

Whose economic condition is very weak.

In such a situation, the Health Department is preparing for deaf-mute screening.

During the Jharkhand School Health Campaign conducted in the state, it has come to the fore that about 18000 children of different schools are suffering from deafness and related problems.

This fact has also come to light that due to the lack of a system for deaf-mute examination of the newborn, the mental and physical development of the children has been affected.

After the installation of the machines by the supplier of the equipment, training will be imparted to the staff of the ENT Department and audiologists of the institute.

The scheme will be implemented through the civil surgeon of each district and the superintendent of the concerned medical college.
