Neha Kakkar Announces Break from Relationships and Work, Seeks Privacy

Mumbai: Bollywood singer Neha Kakkar has announced that she is taking a break from both her personal and professional life, saying she needs time away from responsibilities, relationships, and work.

The singer shared the update through her Instagram Stories, where she posted a brief note stating that she is stepping back from everything she can think of at the moment. She also expressed uncertainty about when—or if—she will return.

Along with the announcement, Neha made a heartfelt request to the media and her fans, urging them to respect her privacy. She asked paparazzi and followers not to film her, adding that she hopes to live freely without cameras and that this space is essential for her peace of mind.

The singer did not reveal the reason behind her decision to take a break.

Neha Kakkar, the younger sister of playback singers Tony Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar, began her musical journey at a young age, performing at religious events. She gained early recognition after participating in the second season of the reality singing show Indian Idol in 2005.

She made her Bollywood debut as a chorus singer in Meerabai Not Out and rose to prominence with the hit song “Second Hand Jawaani” from Cocktail in 2012. Over the years, she became one of the most popular voices in the industry with chart-topping party anthems such as “Sunny Sunny” from Yaariyan and “London Thumakda” from Queen.

In addition to playback singing, Neha has featured in numerous music videos and served as a judge on television reality shows, including Indian Idol. In 2019, she was listed among the most-viewed female artists on YouTube, amassing 13.9 billion views, and in 2021, she became the first Indian singer to receive the YouTube Diamond Award.

Her achievements have also been recognised by Forbes, with appearances in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 list in 2017 and 2019, and in Forbes Asia’s 100 Digital Stars list in 2020.

Neha Kakkar is married to Punjabi singer Rohanpreet Singh. The couple tied the knot in a Gurudwara ceremony in New Delhi in 2020.
