Navy NCC Recruitment Completed – 723 Candidates Appeared

Ranchi: Recruitment rally for selection of cadets in Jharkhand Navy NCC was held at Ranchi on 16th July. Selection of candidates held at Vikas Vidyalaya Newari Ranchi 723 candidates including 309 girls from all over Jharkhand appeared for the selection test at the centre at 9 am. The candidates were subjected to a physical test followed by a written test of one hour. All the tests were completed by 5 pm.

200 candidates are finally shortlisted who will be subsequently interviewed for 131 seats available in NCC. 1 Jharkhand Navy Unit NCC at Khelgaon, Ranchi is the only Navy NCC in the state of Jharkhand. So the selection of cadets for this NCC is based on open enrollment.

Enrolled cadets will undergo 3 years NCC training which will include defense subjects, disaster management, leadership, shooting, adventure camp etc. After completing 3 years training Cadets will be awarded the prestigious NCC ‘C’ Certificate which is very beneficial while applying for careers in Army, Paramilitary, State Services and reputed private companies.

It is pertinent to mention that famous personalities of our country Leader’s like – Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Governor of Jharkhand CP Radhakrishnan, and many famous television and business personalities were NCC cadets during their college days.

The Unit’s Commanding Officer Lt S K Awasthi informed that the selected Naval Cadets will also be trained on specialized aspects of swimming, wind sailing and other watermanship activities so that they can compete in national level NCC competitions Directorate of NCC Bihar and Jharkhand can represent. Cadets will also be sent to various countries under ‘Youth Exchange Programme’. The CO said every student must take up NCC and improve their confidence, management and leadership skills which are very beneficial in life.

1 Jharkhand Navy NCC is a newly formed unit based at Khelgaon. The unit conducts its water skill activities in Patratu or Dhruva. The unit has an enrolled strength of 2500 cadets, of whom 2100 are Junior Cadets (Class 8th and 9th) and 400 Senior Cadets (Class 11th and above). Junior cadets are selected at the school level and senior cadets are selected through an open enrollment policy. There are 15 NCC units in Jharkhand, out of which 13 are Army units, 1 Airforce and 1 Navy unit.
