Ranchi: To promote sustainable mobility system in Jharkhand and strengthen the process of just transition, Centre for Environment and Energy Development (CEED) and OMI Foundation will together prepare a research-study and development roadmap.
This partnership is an important step to strengthen the Kingdom’s efforts towards a sustainable future and low-carbon development. The MoU was signed by Ramapati Kumar, CEO, CEED and Aishwarya Raman, Executive Director, OMI Foundation Trust.
Under this MoU, CEED and OMI Foundation will work on research and projects on innovations based on sustainable mobility and will strive to strengthen the clean transportation system.
As the Technical Partner of the Sustainable Just Transition Task Force (Government of Jharkhand), CEED is poised to prepare a roadmap on sustainable mobility for the state to advance the decarbonisation process in the transportation sector and create a clean manufacturing ecosystem in the state.
Commenting on this partnership Ramapati Kumar, CEO, CEED, said, “We are extremely pleased to collaborate with OMI Foundation, one of the leading organizations in the sustainable mobility sector. This initiative focuses on creating a roadmap for sustainable mobility by promoting cutting-edge research and innovations at the local level.
New modes of sustainable mobility beyond traditional transportation systems will accelerate the economy, benefit the environment through lower carbon emissions, and support a just transition by empowering communities and stakeholders.
On this occasion Aishwarya Raman, Executive Director of OMI Foundation Trust said that adopting clean transportation is essential for a sustainable future and clean environment. By adopting future fuels from electric vehicles to green hydrogen and biofuels, we can shape a paradigm shift in the transportation sector.
In this process, we strive for a just transition in sustainable transport and clean energy, which promotes the creation of transport infrastructure friendly to the interests of women and people with disabilities.” Raman further said that this partnership will promote energy transition, exchange of technical knowledge, pilot studies in the area of clean transportation in line with the goals of the Task Force and the State Government to accelerate green economy and sustainable mobility in the State.
