Deoghar : A tense atmosphere gripped a village in Jharkhand’s Deoghar district after the bodies of a mother and her son were discovered under suspicious circumstances on Tuesday. The incident took place in Nawadih village under the Sonaraithari police station area.
Police confirmed that a murder case has been registered and a detailed investigation is underway.
Given the gravity of the case, Deoghar Superintendent of Police Praveen Pushkar personally visited the site. Forensic experts and a dog squad were also deployed to gather crucial evidence from the scene.
The deceased have been identified as Jubeda Khatoon and her son. Acting on information from villagers, police teams reached the spot quickly, following which additional forces from four police stations were called in to assist. The entire area was cordoned off while a search operation was conducted.
Both bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, and forensic samples have been collected from the crime scene. Officials are also questioning local residents as part of the probe.
Preliminary investigation suggests that police are exploring multiple angles, including possible family disputes, old enmity, and property-related conflicts. However, no clear motive has been established so far.
The case has also revived memories of a past tragedy in the same family. Around four years ago, the family’s head, Riaz Ahmad, was allegedly murdered with a sharp weapon on July 15, 2022. Family members claim that the accused in that case were never arrested, which left them feeling unsafe. Whether the two incidents are connected is still under investigation.
The recent double murder has triggered fear and tension in the village, prompting authorities to appeal for calm.
Family members have demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible.
SP Praveen Pushkar stated that the investigation is being carried out from all possible angles and assured that the culprits will be identified and arrested soon. He added that the probe is currently relying on forensic findings, technical evidence, and local inputs.
