MNREGA workers will be connected with insurance and pension scheme

Ranchi: Along with the employment of Mnrega workers in Jharkhand the benefits of various insurance schemes and pension-related schemes of the government will also be available.

In this regard, the Rural Development Department has issued guidelines to the Deputy Development Commissioner of all the districts through a letter.

Secretary Rural Development Department Manish Ranjan has directed the Deputy Development Commissioners of all the districts to launch a campaign to link Mnrega workers and their families with the pension and insurance schemes of the Central Government to strengthen them financially. The department has directed that along with providing 100 days of employment in the state, public awareness programs should be conducted at various levels to connect those labourers with Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Yojana. Along with this, it has been instructed that it should be ensured that the migrant laborers get employment in their own village.

Secretary of the department, Manish Ranjan said that on the mantra of ‘Jeevika Bhi Jeevan Bhi’, the government is working towards economic strengthening of all Mnrega workers. At present 41 lakh 63 thousand 806 labourers are employed in different districts of the state.

The state government is standing with the Mnrega workers this is the reason why the government gives Rs 75,000 and Rs 37,500 respectively as ex-gratia amount to Mnrega workers who die or get injured during work or in an accident. Till now the dependents of labourers of the state are getting the benefit of this scheme. Most of them have been received by the dependents of labourers of Latehar district. Here benefits have been given to the dependents of 17 labourers in the form of ex-gratia. Giridih is at number two and Chatra district is at number three.

So far 10 in Giridih and 8 in Chatra have been given ex-gratia to the families of Mnrega workers. Similarly, one in Simdega, three in Khunti, three in Deoghar, two in Godda, one in Ramgarh, two in Palamu, one in Lohardaga, 6 in Gumla, 6 in Ranchi, two in Dhanbad and one in Koderma due to the death of Mnrega worker. After that, financial assistance of Rs 75000 has been given to the dependents at the level of the government.
