Minor electrocuted after climbing train in Jamshedpur

Ranchi: Chaos broke out at Tatanagar Railway Station on Thursday night when a minor climbed onto a coal-laden goods train standing between platform numbers 3 and 4. The boy grabbed a high-voltage wire (25,000 volts), and as soon as he touched it, a severe electric shock coursed through his body, causing a fire to erupt.

He fell inside the train after being electrocuted. Railway police worked hard to extricate him from the train and then referred him to MGM Hospital. The boy suffered 90 percent burns and is currently in critical condition under medical care.

The minor is a resident of Uliidih Road No. 2. It is reported that he had been trying to steal a passenger’s belongings and was chased by passengers. Unable to find an escape route, he climbed the goods train.

Despite people shouting at him to come down, he refused. He then grabbed the live wire, leading to the electric shock and fire. As he fell into the train, the coal inside also caught fire. Fortunately, the fire in the coal was extinguished in time, preventing a larger disaster.
