MGNREGA Commissioner held a review meeting with the representatives of the GIZ project working in the ongoing Birsa Harit Gram Yojana of the districts

Ranchi: MGNREGA Commissioner Rajeshwari B said that under MNREGA in Jharkhand, emphasis is being laid on making the people of rural areas employment-oriented and self-reliant through the Birsa Green Village Scheme.

Under this, assistance is being provided to villagers for gardening of fruit trees on tenant land.

He said that if the villagers cultivate vegetables through intercropping system on the land between two fruit plants, then they will get additional income and more and more people will benefit from the scheme and there will be happiness and prosperity in the lives of the villagers.

MGNREGA Commissioner Rajeshwari B was addressing a review meeting with the representatives of the GIZ project working in the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana running in the districts of Jharkhand.

She inquired about the progress of the schemes and gave necessary directions to the officials.

Rajeshwari B said that achieving multiple goals simultaneously has been a major feature of MGNREGA.

To provide employment to the rural families of Jharkhand state and bring qualitative improvement in their standard of living, GIZ project is working for better livelihood under MNREGA scheme in Ramgarh and Dumka districts.

Adding a new dimension to this, a new initiative has been taken to provide encouragement and assistance for inter-farming under the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, which will provide a strong livelihood option to the villagers.

In the meeting, Joint Secretary of the Rural Development Department Arun Singh and other officials were present.
