New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India on Tuesday reported its highest-ever first-half sales for a calendar year, retailing 9,768 vehicles between January and June 2026, a 9 per cent increase over the same period last year.
The luxury carmaker also recorded its best-ever second-quarter performance, with 4,637 units sold during April-June, reflecting a 10 per cent year-on-year growth.
The company said demand for its top-end luxury models remained strong, with the segment accounting for a record 28 per cent of total sales in the first half of the year. Sales in the category grew by more than 20 per cent, led by the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach range, Mercedes-AMG models and the newly launched V-Class.
Mercedes-AMG vehicles registered a robust 50 per cent growth during the January-June period, highlighting increasing customer interest in the brand’s performance-oriented offerings.
The company also witnessed a sharp rise in electric vehicle demand. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 14 per cent of total sales in the second quarter, nearly double their share a year earlier. The growth was driven by the newly launched CLA BEV and the EQS SUV.
According to the company, the EQS SUV emerged as its best-selling luxury electric vehicle, while top-end electric models contributed 25 per cent of overall top-end vehicle sales in the first half.
The long-wheelbase E-Class continued to be the company’s highest-selling luxury sedan, with particularly strong demand for the premium E450 variant.
As part of its expansion plans, Mercedes-Benz India said it will open five new luxury showrooms in emerging markets during the third quarter of 2026, including one in Varanasi.
Commenting on the performance, Santosh Iyer, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said the strong demand for the new V-Class and the CLA BEV helped the company achieve record first-half and second-quarter sales. He added that the CLA BEV sold out quickly, with customers willing to wait nearly six months for delivery, reflecting growing confidence in the company’s latest electric vehicle technology.
He also noted that customer preference for premium vehicles continues to rise, with top-end models now accounting for a record share of total sales, supported by the launch of the new V-Class and the continued growth of the Mercedes-AMG portfolio.
The company’s entry luxury segment also posted a strong 29 per cent growth in the second quarter, driven by the successful launch of the CLA BEV and sustained demand for models such as the GLA SUV.
