Mascot launch of 36th National under 9 Chess Championship, to be organized in November

Ranchi: The mascot was launched for the 36th National Under 9 Boys and Girls Chess Championship. In a press conference held at the Press Club of Ranchi, Umashankar Chaudhary of All Jharkhand Chess Association said, this competition will be organized from November 2 to November 8 at The Web International, Jamshedpur.

The total prize money of the competition is Rs 5 lakh, in which the first place winner will be given Rs 50 thousand and the second place winner will be given Rs 36 thousand. A total of 380 participants have participated in this competition.

In which there are 48 participants from Jharkhand. The winning player will be selected for Asian and International Cadet. Giving information about the mascot, Organizing Committee member NK Singh said, Giri i.e. tiger has been selected for this.

He said chess players are as smart as tigers and hunt their opponents by waiting. Derived from the Santali language, “Diri” embodies the spirit of strategy and intelligence while capturing the essence of chess. He explained that strategy is important in chess and Diri symbolizes tactical moves and precision, which young chess talents aim to master.

The competition was inaugurated by Union Minister Arjun Munda on November 2. Babulal Marandi will be present in the closing ceremony. Cultural programs will also be organized during this period.
