Ranchi: A Maoist leader, Uday Ji, who was arrested by Jharkhand police in 2010, started supplying weapons and ammunition to Maoist groups after his release from prison in 2016. This revelation has come to light in a report by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The NIA has filed charges against Uday Ji in connection with the recovery of weapons and ammunition from Maoist operative Parshuram Singh, also known as Nandlal, from Jehanabad.
In July 2024, the NIA arrested Uday Ji in the case related to the recovery of weapons and ammunition from Parshuram Singh. Uday Ji had been the in-charge of the Koel Shankh Zone for the Maoist organization as an SAC member. Prior to his 2010 arrest by Jharkhand police, Uday Ji had raised significant amounts of money through extortion to promote Maoist activities. Even after being released from prison in 2016, he remained active in furthering these activities. The investigation has revealed that Uday Ji, in collaboration with Parshuram Singh and others, had conspired to supply weapons and ammunition to support the Maoist agenda.
During the investigation, the NIA discovered several weapons, ammunition, and hand grenades. Additionally, a variety of materials used in the manufacture of weapons and explosives were seized. These items were found with Parshuram Singh, a Maoist operator, who had visited a Maoist camp located in the Boodha Pahad region of Jharkhand. Parshuram Singh had met with Mithilesh Mehta, also known as Mithilesh Verma, and supplied hand grenades as part of the arms and ammunition distribution network.
