Ranchi: Gangster Aman Srivastav, who is currently imprisoned, and members of his gang will now face charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA). On Thursday, the Special Court of the Ranchi ATS framed charges based on the charge sheet filed by the ATS.
The gang, led by gangster Aman Srivastav, includes members such as Chandraprakash Ranu, Vinod Kumar Pandey, Amjad Khan, Zaheer Ansari, Mahmood alias Nepali, Aslam, Firoz Khan, Siddharth Kumar Sahu, Pintu, and Sunil. They have been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including sections 386, 387, 109, 43, 201, and 120(B), as well as sections 20 and 21 of the UAPA. The court has now framed charges against them under these provisions, and the trial will proceed.
The ATS had registered a case number 1/2022 against Aman Srivastav. According to the charge sheet, the members of Srivastav’s gang used extortion and levy money to purchase weapons and create terror. They carried out shootings and arson to instill fear among businessmen and contractors.
Gangster Aman Srivastav, who had become a significant challenge for the police in six districts, was arrested by the Jharkhand ATS on May 16 from Mumbai. Since then, he has been held in judicial custody at the Birsa Munda Central Jail.
