Many IPS transfers, promotions likely in Jan

Ranchi: Several transfers of IPS officers are expected to take place in Jharkhand soon, including changes in the positions of district SPs, range DIGs, and zonal IGs. These transfers are likely to be carried out in the first week of January 2025. There are also discussions regarding transfers after the state’s legislative assembly elections, with several officials already seeking to influence the process.

According to reports, the Jharkhand government is focused on improving law and order in the state. As a result, several underperforming IPS officers are likely to be transferred. The performance of these officers is being closely reviewed, including the crime statistics in their districts. Efforts are underway to assign capable IPS officers to control the rising number of criminal incidents in the state.

In January 2025, several senior officers are set to receive promotions. Among them, Ranchi’s DIG Anup Birthare, Hazaribagh’s DIG Sunil Bhaskar, and JAP DIG Patel Mayur Kanhaiyalal will be promoted to the rank of IG. Additionally, Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, Deoghar SP Ajit Peter Dungdung, Special Branch SP Chandan Kumar Jha, Jharkhand Jaguar SP Priyadarshi Alok, CID SP Anuranjan Kispotta, and JAP-3 Commandant Ambar Lakra will be promoted to DIG rank.
