Man lynched over extramarital affair in Bokaro, section 144 imposed, 11 arrested

Bokaro: A man was lynched in Dhaveya village under the Mahuatand Police Station area of Bokaro district in Jharkhand after he was caught having an extramarital affair.

The deceased has been identified as Imran Ansari (35). Upon receiving information regarding the beating of the man a police team reached the spot and rescued him and brought him to a nearby hospital. But as his condition was serious he was referred to RIMS but he died on the way.

Police said that the woman with whom the man was having an extramarital affair hailed from another religious community. On the basis of the statement given by the son and brother of the deceased an FIR has been registered by the police and 11 people have been taken into custody.

Post the incident tension was prevailing in the area and the administration imposed section 144 in the area and more than 300 policemen have been identified. Bermo SDPO Satish Chandra Jha on Friday said that it appears to be an incident of mob lynching.

He said that a police investigation has revealed extramarital affairs to be the main reason behind the incident as after the villagers caught him he was thrashed badly due to which he died.

The police officer said that an FIR against 21 people has been registered in the case out of which 11 have been arrested. He further said that some of the people involved in the incident were also part of idol immersion taking place in the area.
