Jamshedpur: A massive fire broke out in the illegal firecracker market in Kerukocha Haat due to Makar Sankranti. Due to this, a pickup van and 13 bikes were burnt to ashes. The fire also affected some other shops. The fire brigade arrived after about an hour and extinguished the fire.
According to eyewitnesses, about 100 temporary firecracker shops were set up in the market on Saturday. There a young man bought a rocket. Then a rocket was set on fire nearby. The rocket went up and then fell into the firecracker shop itself, causing a fire.
The fire engulfed the vehicles and shops parked nearby. Chakulia CO Upendra Kumar said that there was no permission to set up a firecracker shop in the market. No license was even given.
