Lieutenant Colonel found dead in housing complex

Ranchi: A shocking discovery rocked the Khelgaon Housing Society in Hotwar on Tuesday morning when the body of Lieutenant Colonel Diwakar Kumar was found in the complex premises. The officer, posted at Deepatoli Cantonment, is suspected to have jumped to his death from the seventh floor, sending ripples of unease through the area.

Police from Khelgaon station swiftly arrived at the scene, taking custody of the body and sending it for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary investigations suggest Kumar, who had been battling mental health issues for the past year and was under treatment, may have taken his own life. Known for his habit of retreating to the rooftop to talk, Kumar had gone up to the terrace at an unknown time last night, leaving behind no clues of what transpired.

His wife and daughter, unaware of his movements, were alerted only in the morning when a neighbor spotted his body below the building. “We had no idea when he went up,” a family member reportedly said. The night passed quietly, with no one in the household noticing anything unusual—details now under police scrutiny.

Adding a layer of mystery, Kumar’s daughter later handed over his mobile phone to the police, claiming someone had informed her it was on the roof. She retrieved it herself, but a police search of the terrace turned up nothing else. Authorities are now probing the phone for potential leads.

As the investigation unfolds, questions linger over the final moments of the Lieutenant Colonel, whose life ended in a tragic fall from the heights he once sought for solace.
