Ranchi: A children cum Pocso court in Ranchi awarded life imprisonment to a minor convicted in connection with a gang rape of a girl student and also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on the culprit.
On November 26, 2019 at Sangrampur on the ring road 12 accused had performed the gang rape. On March 2, 2020 the court of Judicial Commissioner Navneet Kumar had awarded life imprisonment to 11 accused in the case and had also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 each. The case of minor accused was transferred to Juvenile Justice Board from where the case was sent to the trail court.
Within 24 hours Ranchi police had managed to arrest all the culprits and had filed the chargesheet within 23 days. Police had produced CCTV footage, bike and car which was used in the incident, mobile of the victim, arma and DNA report from FSL in the court after which all of them were held guilty.
