Ranchi: The hearing on the bail application of former Ranchi DC Chhavi Ranjan, accused in the land scam, has been completed in the Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) Special Court. During the hearing on Thursday, Special Public Prosecutor Ramit Satyendra argued on behalf of ED. High Court advocate Abhishek Chaudhary argued on behalf of Chhavi Ranjan.
On one hand, Chhavi Ranjan’s lawyer pleaded for bail, claiming him to be innocent, while on the other hand, ED said that all the land scams were done with the knowledge and consent of Chhavi Ranjan while he was the DC of Ranchi. After the completion of arguments from both sides, the court will now give its verdict.
Actually, ED is investigating two cases related to land scam in Ranchi. Chhavi Ranjan has been made an accused in both the cases. At present, the case in which he has filed the bail application is a case of purchase and sale of land in Cheshire Home Road with the help of fake documents.
