Land scam: ED to interrogate IAS Chhavi Ranjan on Friday

Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) will interrogate Ranchi’s former DC IAS Chhavi Ranjan on Friday in the Bariatu-based army land scam case. The ED had sent summons on April 17 and asked Chhavi Ranjan to appear in the ED’s zonal office on April 21.

On the other hand, ED has sent summons to the Additional Registrar, Kolkata Trideep Mishra in this matter and asked him to appear in the ED office on May 2. When the ED went ahead with the investigation of irregularities in the purchase and sale of army land in Ranchi by making fake documents from Kolkata, a case of forgery came to the fore in a lot of hundreds of acres of land in Ranchi.

A gang is active in Ranchi, which goes to Kolkata and prepares fake papers of Ranchi’s land, its registry is done in Kolkata itself. After this, land worth crores is bought for pennies. In this whole fraud, top officials, circle officers, and revenue employees have a big role.

At the same time, the ED found in the investigation that government officers, personnel as well as mafias have earned billions by doing land scams. On April 13, the ED arrested seven people while taking action in the Army Land Scam case.

Those arrested include businessman Pradeep Bagchi, CI Bhanu Pratap, Afsar Ali, Imtiaz Khan, Talha Khan, Fayaz Khan and Mohammad Saddam. 

The ED produced the seven arrested accused before the court on Friday, April 14, amid tight security where the court sent everyone to judicial custody. After this, the ED is interrogating all the accused. ED will interrogate IAS Chhavi Ranjan on the basis of the facts revealed in the interrogation during the remand.

In the case related to several land scams along with army land in Ranchi, the ED had raided 22 locations of revenue employees and land mafia of different zones, including former DC Chhavi Ranjan of Ranchi, Manoj Kumar, CO of Bargain zone.

During the raid, the ED has got land deeds, registry-related documents and many government papers on a large scale. On the basis of fake land documents from Kolkata, the ED has found evidence of irregularities in the purchase and sale of land worth billions in Ranchi and money laundering. Seven people have been arrested by the ED after the raid, now the same seven have been interrogated on remand.
