Kolibera MLA Enos Ekka loses membership of Jharkhand Assembly

Ranchi, Jul 10: Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon today cancelled the membership of Kolibera MLA Enos Ekka from the Vidhan Sabha.

An official notification in this regard has been issued by state assembly in which it has been stated that Jharkhand Party MLA Enos Ekka who got elected from Kolibera (71) seat of the state assembly post his conviction has been removed from the membership of the house under Article 8 of Representation of People Act 1951 and article 191 (10) (c) of the constitution with effect from July 3, 3018.

On July 3 Ekka was awarded life imprisonment for the murder of a para teacher by a Simdega court.   The court of district and additional sessions judge  Neeraj Shrivasatav awarded the punishment to Mr  Ekka and also imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on him . The court had on June 30 convicted the MLA in the case and had fixed July 3 as the date of announcing of quantum of punishment. The court has awarded the punishment under sections 302, 120 B, 201 and 171F

for the killing para teacher Manoj Kumar was murdered in November 2014.

Later Mr Ekka was arrested in the case and is currently lodged at Birsa Munda Central jail located at Hotwar here. Ekka had won the Kolibera seat during the assembly polls of 2005, 2009 and also in 2014.
