Ranchi: In a major success for the district police seven hardcore ultras belonging to the CPI-Maoists including one who was carrying a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head has been arrested.
Briefing the press Khunti SP Ashutosh Shekhar on Tuesday said that he had received a tip-off that some ultras had gathered in the bordering areas of Arki-Marangdaga after which a police team conducted raids and arrested these ultras from Rangrom forest.
The arrested have been identified as Jeetrai Munda, Jogan Purty, Mago Pahan, Dukhal Munda, Manay Munda, Mangal Singh Munda and Shiv Singh Pahan. All of them are active members of the maoists squad led by Amit Munda, Maharaj Pramanik and Boyda Pahan.
The SP said that among the arrested Jeetrai Munda carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on his head and 28 cases are registered against him in different police stations. He said that all the arrested have confessed to their role in the murder of police constable Ashiyan Purty and two other killings in Badani and one in Jharjhara market.
Mr Shekhar said that following the information provided by the arrested nearly 400 live cartridges, revolvers, Can bombs and IEDs have been recovered from Tamar, Kuchai and Toklo Police Station areas spread across Ranchi, Saraikela and West Singhbhum districts respectively.
