Gandey seat is vacant from 31 December 2023. On December 31, 2023, Dr. Sarfaraz Ahmed had resigned from the post of MLA of this seat. Since then, speculations were being made that Kalpana Soren could contest elections from this seat. Today Kalpana has matched Gandeya. Kalpana Murmu Soren will face BJP’s Dilip Verma. Dilip Verma has held many positions in BJP. He has also served as BJP Kisan Morcha District President. He is also considered close to BJP state president Babulal Marandi.
