JMM wants to intervene in office-of-profit case pending before ECI

Ranchi: The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) in the capacity of a political party wants to intervene in the matter of office-of-profit case involving Chief Minister Hemant Soren before the Election Commission of India (ECI).

General secretary of the party, Vinod Kumar Pandey has knocked on the doors of Raj Bhawan to forward the party’s application seeking intervention in the proceedings before the ECI scheduled on May 31.

The party justified its intervention by saying Soren is a member of the JMM and has been elected to the state legislative assembly on the ticket of JMM and is presently holding the office of chief minister of the state by virtue of having been elected as leader of the JMM legislature party. According to the party, the election commission order will affect its rights and interest.

The party, in its letter to the governor, said the ECI has started proceedings on the basis of the application of the BJP, which wants to destabilise the smooth functioning of state government and thus it is expected from the JMM to intervene in the matter which is the outcome of the political motive of opposition.
