JMM to support ‘Didi’ in West Bengal, not to field candidates on any seat: Hemant Soren

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Friday announced the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha will be supporting Trinamool Congress in the Assembly election of West Bengal and will not be fielding any candidate during the polls.

He said that TMC supremo West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had requested him to extend support in the elections in that state and had called him on phone and had also written a letter seeking the support of the party for the elections in the neighbouring state.

He said that on this issue he had discussions with party supremo Shibu Soren and after lots of deliberation it has been decided that such party should be given support in West Bengal which can stop the communal forces and in this context JMM has decided to support TMC.

“JMM will support Didi and will not field candidates in West Bengal assembly elections and we will help her in the polls,” Hemant Soren said. Adding further he said that under the present political situation in West Bengal JMM did not wanted to become a reason for allowing communal forces to establish their hold so it has decided to support the TMC.

He said that he has not been able to speak to her after she got injured as he too was busy but assured that very soon in near future he will be speaking to her. The Chief Minister said that few days earlier before the incident of Nandigram he had spoken with the West Bengal Chief Minister.
