JMM suggests Marandi to have patience, show respect towards Speaker

Ranchi: The ruling Jharkhand Mukti Morcha has asked the BJP legislature party chief Babulal Marandi to restrain himself from raising finger on the integrity of assembly Speaker Rabindranath Mahto and proceedings of his tribunal hearing in the matter related to anti-defection. Addressing a press conference, JMM general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya said that the Speaker happens to be the guardian of the House and gives proper protection to the opposition during a debate in the house to protect the spirit of democracy and thus helps the government in taking proper decisions.

He allegedly said this is not the first time Marandi has raised questions on the chair as earlier when Dinesh Oraon was the speaker and the matter related to five MLAs who had joined the BJP after winning election as JVM-P candidates was pending before the tribunal of the speaker he had leveled a similar allegation.

The JMM had respected the chair and except requesting for early judgment said nothing against the chair, he added. Bhattacharya said it was obvious on the part of the speaker to take proper time as the letter by which three including MLAs of JVM-P Bandhu Tirkey, Pradeep Yadav and Babulal Marandi had extended unconditional support to the UPA after winning election as JVM candidates is still with him.

He expressed his concern over the way two former chief ministers of the state including Babulal Marandi and Raghubar Das became incommunicado after giving a statement on the ED raid and raising the finger at the speaker. They should disclose their location Bhattacharya said adding that he has come to know that they have switched off their mobiles.

He alleged that the entire exercise is being done in the state to destabilise the triballed government and Babu Marandi was  being used as a tool.
