Ranchi: JMM has announced the name of the candidate for the Gandey by-election. Kalpana Murmu will be JMM’s candidate from Soren Gandey. Kalpana Soren will file nomination from Gandey on April 29. Voting is going to be held in Gandey on 20th May. At the same time, the results will come on June 4.

Gandey seat of Giridih district has become vacant after the resignation of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed. A notification from the Assembly Secretariat on December 31 said that the public is being informed that the Jharkhand Assembly Speaker has accepted the resignation of Gandey MLA Sarfaraz Ahmed. This seat is vacant from December 31, 2023.
Elections for 14 Lok Sabha seats of Jharkhand will be held in four phases. Voting in the state will be held on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1. Along with this, by-elections for Gandeya assembly constituency will also be held on May 20 along with the Lok Sabha elections.
