Deoghar: In a bid to enhance pilgrim convenience during Shravani Mela 2026, the Jharkhand Government will introduce an affordable helicopter service from August 4. The initiative, launched in collaboration with the Jharkhand Flying Institute (JFI), will offer devotees a faster mode of travel along with breathtaking aerial views of Deoghar, Basukinath and Trikut Hills.
Deputy Commissioner Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya said the service has been introduced to make travel easier for the large number of pilgrims visiting Deoghar during the holy month of Shravan. The helicopter operations will be managed by the Jharkhand Flying Institute under the state’s Civil Aviation Department.
Pilgrims can choose from several helicopter services. A 7 to 10-minute aerial sightseeing tour covering Deoghar and Basukinath will cost ₹2,850 per person. Those wishing to enjoy an aerial view of Trikut Hills can opt for a 10 to 15-minute tour from Deoghar at ₹3,750 per person.
For devotees travelling between the two major pilgrimage centres, a 15-minute one-way helicopter service connecting Deoghar and Basukinath will also be available at ₹4,500 per person, providing a quick and comfortable alternative to road travel.
The district administration said tickets can be booked online through the official website, while a dedicated helpline (9122583111) has been set up to assist pilgrims with bookings and other queries.
Officials believe the helicopter service will make the pilgrimage more convenient, save travel time and offer devotees a memorable experience during the world-famous Shravani Mela.
