Jharkhand ranks first in recent ranking issued by Smart City Mission

Ranchi: Jharkhand has reached the top position in the index of execution of projects as part of the Smart City Mission which has been issued by the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Among the 100 cities were projects under the Mission was on the state capital of Ranchi has reached at 12 positions while in the list of states and UTs Delhi was at the 11th Rank and Bihar 27th, in the list of cities New Delhi Municipal Corporation was at the 41st position while Patna stood at 68th position.

Earlier the ranking was being issued by the Smart City Mission per month or fortnight basis but now these rankings are updated online. The rankings are based on the execution of schemes and their progress as part of Smart City Mission and for different works, marks are assigned.

Some of the areas in which Mark’s are awarded included disposal of tenders, issue of work order, completion of schemes, funds spent by smart city Mission and the state government,  sending of NOC to centre on time for funds utilisation certificate etc.

As part of Ranchi Smart City Mission in 656 acres of land in Dhurwa a new city is being developed in which world-class infrastructure is being added. The works related to roads, drinking water, power, drainage, cycle land, walking lane are in the last stage while the process of e-auction has commenced for plots to be used for residential, business, education, mix-use, healthcare and hospitality and in the first phase, many plots have been auctioned.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren himself has been very serious over the progress of the Ranchi Smart City. The Chief Minister in his previous meetings had expressed his satisfaction over the works being done in the project and had assured that it will be constructed as per the aspirations of the people.

Secretary of the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs Department Durga Shankar Mishra in the last three-day visit to the state had expressed his delight over the progress in the smart city project.

Secretary of the department Vinay Kumar Choubey has expressed his delight over the progress made by the state in the ranking while CEO of Smart City Corporation Amit Kumar has assured that in development of the city participation people will be ensured.
