Jharkhand Industrialist’s Son Kidnapped; Abductors Seek Rs 5 Crore, Police Conduct Multi-State Raids

Jamshedpur: Nearly 48 hours after the kidnapping of 24-year-old Kairav Gandhi, son of well-known Jamshedpur entrepreneur Devang Gandhi, Jharkhand Police are yet to make a major breakthrough in the case.

The abductors have demanded a ransom of Rs 5 crore, contacting the family through a foreign mobile number that investigators have traced to Indonesia. In response, the police have formed seven special teams to ensure the safe recovery of the victim.

These teams are carrying out raids at suspected locations across Jharkhand, Bihar, West Bengal, and Odisha. According to police officials, Kairav left his residence around 11.30 a.m. on Tuesday, telling his family that he would visit an SBI branch in Bistupur, then go to his company in Adityapur, and return home for lunch.

When he failed to return by 1.45 p.m. and his phone was found switched off, the family raised an alarm. Later that evening, his car was discovered abandoned near a resort on NH-33 in the Kanderbera area under Chandil police station limits. The keys were still in the ignition, while his mobile phone was found lying on the ground near the vehicle.

Police suspect that Kairav was intercepted and forcibly taken away in another vehicle. Investigators are analysing CCTV footage, call detail records, and electronic evidence, while the cyber cell is working to trace the origin of the Indonesian number used to make the ransom demand.
