Ranchi, August 10 :Jharkhand High Court on Friday extended the provisional bail of RJD chief Lalu Yadav till August 20.
According to a lawyer, the provisional bail period was ending on August 17. The lawyers of Lalu Yadav move High Court seeking extension of provisional bail for three months. The next hearing will take place on August 17.
Lalu was granted six weeks provisional for treatment in May this year which later extended by the high court.
Lalu was in Birsa Munda central jail after convicted in December last year in a fodder scam case. He was convicted in two more cases in January and March this year and awarded 14 years imprisonment.
Lalu was first time convicted in 2013 and he was awarded five years imprisonment.
The multi million fodder scam had surfaced in 1990s when Lalu Yadav was Chief Minister of undivided Bihar. At directive of Patna High Court the probe was handed over to CBI.
More than 90 per cent cases were transferred to Ranchi after Jharkhand was carved out from Bihar in 2000.
